How much does a website cost?
There are two honest answers: «it depends» and a number. Here are both, and the number is ours.
Ask for three quotes and you will get three figures that look nothing alike: €300, €1,200 and €4,000 for what sounds like the same thing. Nobody is necessarily lying: «a website» can be a template filled in over an afternoon or six weeks of work. The problem is that from the outside you cannot tell them apart.
What almost nobody mentions is the second half: a website is not paid for once. It has hosting, a domain, a certificate, updates and the changes you need every year. A quote that only gives you the price of building it is hiding half the bill.
Filled-in template: €0-400
You with a site builder, or someone doing it for you in a few hours. It comes out cheap and it shows: it looks like a thousand others.
Custom site: €600-2,500
Its own design, your content in order, built so people find you. This is where ours sits.
Agency: €3,000-10,000
Several people, meetings, strategy and months of project. It makes sense when what is at stake justifies it.
And then: €20-60 a month
Hosting, domain, security, backups and changes. You cannot skip this, whoever you host with.
What makes it cost more
An online shop, bookings, extra languages, professional photography, and the sites that have to be rebuilt because nobody asked the right questions at the start.
What you should not pay for
Deposits upfront to see a mock-up, «extra pages», or not owning your own domain. That is not a price: it is a leash.

Why be wary of a €300 website?
You do not always have to be: for something very simple it can be fine. What to look at is what happens afterwards. If that price does not cover hosting, or changes, or anyone answering the phone six months later, it was not cheap: it was just not much.

Is the maintenance compulsory?
With us yes, because it includes the hosting the site lives on, and without that it is not published. It is €49 a month with no lock-in, and from a year on we hand you the site in a ZIP in case you would rather take it elsewhere.

Is the domain separate?
If you already have one, we connect it at no cost. If not, we buy it in your name and it is covered by the maintenance: ordinary domains cost between €10 and €15 a year.

Do the prices include VAT?
No, every price you see excludes VAT. 21% is added at payment and itemised on the invoice, so if you are a company or self-employed you can deduct it.
